“La Verite of Flowers” - CHAPTER 5"

Izumi: So the ones who’ve volunteered are Sakuya-kun, Masumi-kun, Kazunari-kun, Misumi-kun—
Tsumugi-san, Azuma-san, and finally the one who was nominated prior, Banri-kun. Let’s work hard together.
Kazunari: Let’s goooo~!
Sakuya: I’ll do my best!
Banri: I was surprised to see Masumi and Misumi joining in, but it seems basically everyone here would do well in cross-dressing, so it’s all good.
If we ended up with Hyodo and Tasuku-san…
I was starting to worry if we were settled with the brawny dudes who are too motivated by theatre and not even give a sweat to think about the visuals.
Izumi: Ahaha, I suppose those two have quite muscular physiques.
(Some of their reasoning is a little strange, but we did end up with the perfect amount of members. Plus we got Tsumugi-san here to rely on regarding the play. This line-up puts me at ease.)
Banri: Seems like things are in our favor, huh?
Izumi: Yep! Now then, I’ll pass around the script we just received to everyone.
In terms of content, it’s written with some creative freedom more than faithfully following historical events.
Kazunari: “Your Highness, this macaron is so unequivocally bussin!!!” Like that?
Banri: What’s with the gyaru switch!? That’s too much creative freedom.
Azuma: Fufu, but even that’s pretty interesting too.
Izumi: Well, first off, shall we decide on our casting?

Izumi: (The story starts off with Marie Antoinette asking her servant to become her body double.)
Tsumugi: “Ahh, this is the start of a bad dream… Goodbye forever, my quiet and peaceful happy life…”
Izumi: (Tsumugi-san will play the role of the servant who gets stuck with the task of being Marie Antoinette’s double.)
Banri: “I have brought this bouquet of lilies for you.”
Izumi: (Banri will play Count Fersen, as per his own request.)
Masumi: “Are you faring well, my Queen?”
Sakuya: “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Your Majesty.”
Azuma: “Your dress tonight is just so lovely.”
Misumi: “We bring gifts for you, my queen. Would you care to receive them?”
Izumi: (As for the noblewomen, we have Masumi-kun, Sakuya-kun, Misumi-kun, and Azuma-san. And finally…)
Kazunari: “How are you all enjoying the evening party?”
Izumi: (Kazunari-kun will be playing Marie Antoinette. The brilliant expressions and ever-so-slightly mischievous smiles bring out a nice touch.)
(It was Kazunari-kun himself who volunteered for Marie Antoinette’s role…)
—FLASHBACK—

Kazunari: Hey hey! Can I take up Marie Antoinette’s role?
Izumi: Is there any particular reason you want to take it?
Kazunari: Hm~ To be honest, I guess it’s ‘cause I feel some sympathy for her.
I actually had to look up about Marie Antoinette for a previous production and…
I learned she was a subject of all kinds of gossip and malicious speculating, all without her knowing about anything.
I also became susceptible to various rumors within social media during the 9th performance run some time ago…
So I kinda feel for this Marie Antoinette who’s also been a victim of those kinds of baseless rumors.
—FLASHBACK END—
Izumi: (If Kazunari-kun feels that he can relate to his role, then the scenes in the second half will likely turn out really great.)
Azuma: Perhaps we could try saying this line in this manner?
Izumi: I think that’d be good!
Banri: With all his experience in female roles, he’s turning up with fast and steady results, huh?
Izumi: Yep. And even though it’s only Masumi-kun and Misumi-kun’s first time, they’ve pretty much nailed it down since they’ve already been flexible from the start.
Banri: This is the first time that Sakuya and Kazunari are doing female roles too, but their movements are still a lil’ bit awkward.
Izumi: Their roles are more on the naivety side by nature, so it should be fine as long as we iron out some of the kinks.
And Tsumugi-san is…
Banri: Solid. Tsumugi-san sure is amazing.
Izumi: (Banri-kun’s Fersen has this air of a confident soldier, yet has a sweetness to him that makes the ladies fall for him. Spot-on, I’ll say.)
(Things have been going too smoothly since the start that I’m somehow just a little uneasy about it, but… Perhaps this is just evidence that everyone’s really grown.)
— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —
Izumi: Shall we wrap it up for today?
Masumi: Alright.
Misumi:Good work everyone~
Izumi: I feel like it’s not so bad the way it is now, but I think we can improve more and more as we get a better and deeper understanding of your roles.
Sakuya: Okay!
Tsumugi: Should we perhaps shape the atmosphere up with a little more aesthetic[1]?
Azuma: Our stage will be a hotel lounge, after all.
Masumi: Since Marie Antoinette and the French have such strong imagery, the audience will also have high expectations.
Banri: That’s true. So I guess, for now, we should incorporate some more aesthetics[1] and elegance into the direction.
Kazunari: Got it~!
Sakuya: I’d like to work on my role study a little bit more.
Azuma: Shall we have a tea party then?
Misumi: Yaaay! I’ll get to eat some triangle sandwiches!
Kazunari: Alright! Time for some noon R&R!
Banri: Geez. You guys just wanted to have tea, didn’t you.
