“MANTAN Everyday" - CHAPTER 2"

Tsuzuru: To think that I’m going to be in a Sunny Works column myself…..
Izumi: I was surprised by the timing of it all myself.
Tsuzuru: It’s for the special feature column where they talk about different industries and all sorts of related past part-time experiences, right? I sometimes read those features myself.
Izumi: With all the part-time work experiences you’ve got under your belt, you’re the perfect fit for this!
Tsuzuru: Speaking of, how did they decide on me for this?
Izumi: Now that you mention it… Maybe they’re aware of how active you are with part-time jobs because of all the times you shared about them in the troupe blogs?
(DOOR OPENS)
Hidaka: Please excuse me for having you wait. My name is Hidaka, representing Sunner Workers.
Izumi: Tachibana, head supervisor for MANKAI Company. It’s a pleasure to meet you today. And this here is—
Tsuzuru: (Hidaka-san….? Why do I have a feeling I know that name and face——)
I’m Minagi Tsuzuru. Uhm….. Sorry for the question, but I was wondering if we’ve met before…
Hidaka: I knew it! It’s me! We worked in the same gas station together!
Tsuzuru: Aaahh…!! Wow, it’s been so long, good to see you.
Hidaka: Same to you! Seriously though, when I saw your name in the news about the Fluer Awards, I wondered if it was really you, so I thought to call to confirm.
Minagi was only a first-year high schooler back then, but he was really a hard-working juggler of part-time jobs even back then.
I even tried to invite him to the welcoming party once, but he rejected it while saying he had another job to get to.
Tsuzuru: Ahaha, I suppose I was. It’s a little embarrassing to talk about it now…
Izumi: (So that explains why he wanted Tsuzuru-kun for this job…)
Hidaka: I’d like to ask more about it in the interview, so without further ado, shall we start?
Tsuzuru: Yes, thank you for having us.

(BALL THUMP)
Tsuzuru: …Hup, ho.
(BALL THUMP)
Tasuku: Sorry for having you tag along in this. I was just in the mood to do some pass practice.
(BALL THUMP)
Tsuzuru: All good. I wanted to do some light exercise myself, so it was good timing.
Oh right. Actually, the other day I met up again with an old gas station co-worker of ours. You remember Hidaka-san?
Tasuku: Hidaka…..?
Tsuzuru: You know, that guy who kept leaving around all the manga and magazines in the break room after he’d finished reading them…
Tasuku: Ahh… The one that got banned by the manager from using that gas station’s laundromat because he kept leaving behind paper waste everywhere?
Tsuzuru: Haha, I guess something like that did happen too…
He seemed like he wanted to meet you too, Takato-san. We exchanged contacts, so maybe we could all go out to eat or something together…
(PHONE BUZZING)
Tsuzuru: Oops, sorry. That’s mine.
….Ohoh, speak of the devil and he shall appear. Hidaka-san could very well be asking for a meal together just as we said. Let’s see…

Hidaka: I’m sorry for having to call you here again.
Tsuzuru: It’s no problem. What did you want to talk about today?
Hidaka: You see, I was hoping to commission you for a script that’s for a separate thing to the column interview we did before.
Tsuzuru: Eh? A script?
Hidaka: Yes. Here are the papers about the project.
Since the 20th anniversary of Sunny Workers is coming up, we’ve had a diversity of projects planned for it.
These include all sorts of event collaborations with other companies, as well as anniversary products…
Tsuzuru: I see, I see...
Hidaka: Among them, we have an omnibus of short stories currently in development, and if you’re willing, we were hoping to have you, Minagi, write the script for it.
Tsuzuru: A short story…
Hidaka: The kind fit for a web commercial, in short.
The plan is to make 3 videos in total, with the theme: “Supporting your first part-time life experience.” …. What do you think?
Tsuzuru: Thank you for calling me for this. I want to take the job.
Hidaka: Really!? What a relief! Thank you as well for taking it!
I’m certain there are a lot of people who want to take their first step into doing part-time jobs….
And if there was someone like you Minagi— who had challenged all sorts of part-time’s even as a high schooler, were to help encourage others into taking that step, then I figured it would be nice to see…

Tsuzuru: ….
Hidaka: I’ll be anticipating for the script.
Tsuzuru: …’Course. I’ll do my best.
